Belly Fat and Erectile Dysfunction can be warnings of heart disease, circulatory problems and a number of other health conditions. Belly fat is often used interchangeably with visceral fat.
How belly fat is linked to erectile dysfunction:
1. Excessive visceral fat will often lead to coronary artery disease. This means that the arteries are less able to transport blood around the body. Inadequate blood flow to the penis can cause erectile dysfunction.
2. It produces an enzyme called aromatase which converts testosterone to estrogen. If a man’s testosterone levels decline, he is likely to experience erectile dysfunction.
3. It also increases the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease which may by themselves contribute to erectile dysfunction.
There are two basic ways of getting rid of visceral fat. The first is to eat healthier, meaning eating less sugar and less fat. The second way is to exercise so the body burns more energy. The key is to burn more energy than what is supplied to the body. Over time, this will reduce fat reserves and chip away at the belly fat.
