It’s true: If your testosterone levels are very low, research has shown that you are more likely to die than people that have normal testosterone levels.
A research study that was published in the European Journal of Endocrinology, found that men who had testosterone levels in the 10th percentile or below, were significantly more likely to die of any cause during the following 15-year period than men who had higher levels of testosterone.
The study was done on 1,167 men aged 30 to 60 years in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Why do men with low testosterone die earlier than other men?
The research didn’t say. But testosterone is an essential hormone for several functions in the body, such as muscle and bone formation, brain functions, use of energy by the body, etc.
It is therefore probably fair to assume that inadequate levels of this critical hormone is likely to cause lethal damage to one or more systems in the body over time.
