It has previously been confirmed that high levels of testosterone increase a man’s effort to find a mate, and also makes competition among men for females more fierce.
New research now also shows that high levels of testosterone makes a male more protective of his existing romantic partner.
This was revealed in a research study published in the journal Physiology & Behavior, which studied testosterone levels of 108 men.
The study found that there was a correlation between testosterone levels and what is called male retention behavior.
Men with high testosterone levels demonstrated a more competitive attitude towards other males, to ward them off their partner.
Also, men with higher testosterone levels would more frequently engage in activities such as limiting a partner’s social life by monopolizing her time.
