What is ‘morning wood’? And why does it happen?
Morning wood simply refers to a man waking up with an erect penis in the morning (or in the middle of the night). The scientific term is nocturnal penile tumescence.
And you get erections during the night – not in order to be ready to procreate – but in order for your body to maintain and restore your penis and your overall sexual function. It is simply part of regular maintenance.
Morning erections are in other words an indication of a body that is healthy. It is normal, and it should happen every night.
However, if you have less morning wood activity than you had before, this could be a warning flag for health issues. It would typically mean that something is off in your body.
It could be a result of you getting less sleep than you should, that you stress, that you are overweight, that you are testosterone deficient, or a number of other health issues.
You may also have noticed that you get less and less morning wood as you get older. This is normally due to decreasing testosterone levels.
Gentlemen – morning wood is good. If your morning wood is faltering, take this a sign that there is probably an imbalance in your body. And this is something you may want to look into.
