Your Sex Drive Is Driven By Estrogen..? [Not Testosterone..?]

By Johnathan P Cumberwell

For the longest time, we have believed that testosterone is the key to our sex drive. And that estrogen was a negative.

This notion might just have to be scrapped..! 🤔

Because research has come out saying that it is estrogen that fires up your sex drive, not testosterone.

By the way, testosterone is the primary male sex hormone, and estrogen the primary female sex hormone.

A research study that was just published in the journal Endocrinology, found something interesting:

In a group of mice, the researchers removed a gene that converts testosterone to estrogen. And in the other mice, they left this gene intact.

Your Sex Drive Is Driven By Estrogen

Therefore, the mice that had the gene removed, had significantly more testosterone than the other group.

But their sex drive dropped by 50%!

So the mice with more estrogen had a much higher sex drive.

The conclusion of the study was that estrogen is essential in order for male mice to have a strong sex drive. Which probably means that this is the case for you and me as well.

More research is needed, but this is an interesting development.
