Pine bark extract has in previous studies showed promising signs that it can help overcome erectile dysfunction.
Now a new study, published in the Bratislava Medical Journal, has added further data points to support this.
The study was performed on 53 men with erectile dysfunction, some of which were also diagnosed with diabetes type 2.
It was a double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled study, which is considered the top standard of studies as neither the researchers nor the patients knew who received the pine park supplements, nor the placebo.
The study lasted for three months and the subjects got 120 mg of pine bark extract (or placebo) daily.
So what were the outcomes?
Men with ED experienced a 22% improvement in erectile function
Those men with ED and diabetes type 2, experienced a 45% improvement in erectile function.
Men with ED also saw a 14% improvement in ‘bad’ cholesterol.
And men with ED and diabetes type 2, saw a 20% reduction in ‘bad’ cholesterol.
The study concluded that pine bark extract can indeed improve erectile dysfunction.
Why is pine bark helpful in overcoming ED?
There are more than one answer, but one key factor is that pine bark makes the enzyme (nitric oxide synthase) that produces nitric oxide, more effective at producing the nitric oxide.
